California, Utah, California, Cayman

Well, to say that we have not stopped moving since August 18th would be an understatement! As our first week on island comes to a close I came up with this brilliant idea that we should make a blog. I think that it will be a great way for us to still keep in touch with our family back in California, and help everyone to keep up to date on what we are doing here on island! Our goal is to blog at least once a week! :)

We got to visit the beautiful Park City, Utah for our honeymoon. I joked that I never took my finger off the camera button, but I'm almost half serious! It was such a beautiful place! One of my favorite parts was when we went to the Olympic Training Center. In 2002 the Winter Olympics were in Utah, and we actually got the opportunity while we were there to ride the bobsled track. It is the same exact track that they used in 2002! Well, except for the fact that they rode on ice! :) We also found this little bakery that friends of ours said we just had to go to. They sure were right!! We were there almost every day, and even bought 2 delcious loaves that we just had to have!! Boy am I glad that they're only in Utah, or else we might have had to open up an account with them! ;)

We arrived back in California with approximately one day until we had to pack up our things and move. I never knew that I could experience as many emotions in one day as I did. We got to have a little family brunch and open up our wedding presents. It was such a nice time, and totally felt like Christmas as we unwrapped everything! We are so thankful for parents who are letting us invade their space and store our new treasures! Leaving for the airport was probably one of the hardest things I've had to face. Getting a teaching job in this economy is such a blessing, however the location is the catch! :/ It was so difficult to say goodbye to our family. I literally cried all the way through the security line! I almost felt sick to my stomache...it was so hard to say goodbye. But we rest well in the fact that we only have to be apart for 4 months. Christmas vacation will be such a sweet treat!

It wasn't soon after we arrived on island (the next day) that I went straight to work! I had a week of inservice training and time allocated to set up my classroom. MY classroom!! Still getting used to that phrase! :) Also, I think it will take a while before I can get used to being called Mrs. Rodgers! :) We had a parent teacher night on Thursday where I got to meet 9 out of 10 of my students and their parents. I am so excited for this year and the challenges that it will bring.

The Lord is so faithful in his timing. Yesterday at 8:30pm we signed lease papers to our very first home!!!!!!! :) We celebrated with a trip to Dairy Queen, complete with Kyle driving on the right side of the car and the left side of the road, and with 10 new bug bites on my legs! We are so excited to move in tomorrow and unpack everything from our suitcases!

We love and miss all of our family and friends...and still wondering when this gets "easier"?

Prayer Requests:

Melissa: For the first day of school; that my love for God would be evident in everything, that I would connet with my students, that my students would connect together as a whole class and begin to trust each other and work together.

Kyle: That our visas would go through without complications. Melissa was only granted a 7 day visit, per turning in her teaching licence. We were just able to get that in today, so we are hoping for favor in that. Also for me, I was only granted a 30 day visitors visa, we are going to request more days, so favor that would go smoothly, and the time would be granted. Also for financial provision, as we're moving into a new place and all the new expenses that come with it.
